It's really happening. I am working in my studio. It's an unbelievable feeling and unlike anything I've ever experienced before. There is freedom to create, dream and think about what inspires me to create art. My faith comes through in my work as I enjoy making crosses and manger scenes. I also never get tired of making hearts and they bring such joy when they are given away.
All of my fused glass pieces begin with COE 96 glass. These pieces are a compilation of broken or cut pieces of glass, carefully arranged and then fused together under extremely high temperatures in a kiln. This meticulous process transforms individual fragments into a cohesive and stunning work of art.
For a glass artist that fuses, nothing compares to opening the kiln and seeing exactly what you imagined. Although fusing is a science, glass and heat do not always play nice together and there can be heartbreak with cracks or blemishes. But one of the best parts of fusing is that glass can be broken down and refused again and many times a mistake turns into the piece someone else loves.
